I often hear that carpet is one of the most confusing products to shop for. Because most people shop for carpet so infrequently, it is easy to get confused in the process, and end up making mistakes when selecting your carpet. In fact, I've compiled a list of the biggest mistakes people make when shopping for carpet. The best way to avoid making these mistakes is to educate yourself before you go shopping, and find a salesperson you can trust to steer you in the right direction. I recommend looking for someone who will take the time to discuss the options with you and who will fully explain everything, rather than someone who pushes the weight and fiber type as the only information you need to know. (Maybe you know the type: "I've got a 60 oz. nylon I can give you a great deal on. You don't need to look at anything else.")
Have you ever made any of the mistakes on this list? Or perhaps you recognized the mistake you were about to make, and were able to avoid it. I'd love to hear about your experiences! Please share in the comments section below.
When the time comes to replace your flooring, there is a myriad of options available. The decision, however, often comes down to two of the most popular floor covering types: carpet versus hardwood.
There are many reasons to favor each option, and the best option for some may not be for others. Some of the important factors to take into consideration when deciding between carpet and hardwood include budget, maintenance, safety, and personal style.
I am obviously a lover of carpet. That is not to say, however, that I dislike other types of flooring. In fact, I love the look of a hardwood floor with a beautiful area rug. So please don't assume I will always recommend carpet over hardwood; rather, I hope that you will find that this article (link above) raises some points you may not have considered, and helps you to make the best choice for you.
Have you made this decision, or are you struggling to choose? What were or will be some of the deciding factors for you?
